Workplace Standards Changes due to COVID-19

The recent pandemic has led to many temporary laws being passed which provide assistance in this time of crisis, particularly regarding special leave for employees impacted by COVID-19.

These laws change rapidly as more information becomes available and public health officials make new recommendations, and are different in each jurisdiction. Please consult the appropriate government sources for up-to-date information on this issue.

Minimum Wage $14.25/hour
$11.40/hour for employees receiving tips

COVID-19
Leave
Retroactive to March 16, 2020, emergency leave is available if the employee is unable to work because of a government-declared emergency or an order of the Chief Public Health Officer, such as if they are isolating, are sick with COVID-19, or are caring for a child because of closures caused by COVID-19. Employers may also direct their employees to take the leave if they are sick.
