Workplace Standards Changes due to COVID-19

The recent pandemic has led to many temporary laws being passed which provide assistance in this time of crisis, particularly regarding special leave for employees impacted by COVID-19.

These laws change rapidly as more information becomes available and public health officials make new recommendations, and are different in each jurisdiction. Please consult the appropriate government sources for up-to-date information on this issue.

Group Terminations
Group terminations or lay-offs at a single location of more than 10 employees representing 25% or more of the work force within a 4 week period must give 6 weeks advance notice to the Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour as well as the employees affected
COVID-19

When in quarantine or isolation as directed by government or medical professionals
When directed to stay home by their employer to limit exposure
